Alan Robb Hickinbotham: The next of the series will feature Alan Robb Hickinbotham whose contribution to winemaking has had a marked effect on many generations of Australian winemakers. Alan Robb initiated the first scientific winemaking course in Australia at Roseworthy Agricultural College. Most of Australia's great winemakers attended his course from the 1940's throught to the 60's.
Alan Robb, aka Hick, was not one to suffer fools. His analytical approach to scientific winemaking (oenology) has put Australia at the forefront of fresh fruity, clean, varietal, New World, wines that are globally desired today.
This pioneering spirit continues today with subsequent generations of Hickinbothams in their contributions to the Australian wine industry. A fleshy wine showing excellent varietal definition and true cool climate length. This superbly grown and ripened fruit from Main Ridge allows us to demonstrate our minimalist winemaking philosophies.
