The Cellar Door

Re-cycled, rejuvenated, renovated and revamped are words to describe our Cellar Door.  With the use of brick and old timbers, the Cellar Door has a rea and rustic feel.

Every piece of structure has been rescued from a previous life. The building itself is the old Hampton High School gymnasium, while the slate fire surround was rescued from one of Brighton’s last original beach houses. The wrought iron work is from the old Melbourne Steamship building, the cellar door bar was the counter at the State Bank of Malvern and the much admired bevelled glass of the front doors came from the old Hoyts Palace Theatre.  In winter the log fire is crackling and the cosy atmosphere makes ir difficult to leave.

This mix of old and new gives the Cellar Door real character and the ambience is very relaxing. the cellar door staff are both friendly and helpful.  They will assist yuo through a comprehensive tasting of current wines. with consideration of your level of wine knowlegde.

For those with little love of wine, we also have house brewed beer available. Hix Beer.  Come and try our range on tap.
